Happy One Month!

Elaina turned one month old today! I can't believe how quickly one month went! She's now over 8 pounds, growing out of her newborn clothes... and is officially in size 1 diapers. That went so fast! She's smiling a lot... now if I can get her to sleep more during the night...

Here are a few pictures:

Playing outside

Amelia and mommy got some special alone time last week. We went for a walk togrther and then came home and played with sidewalk chalk! Mommy even taught Amelia how to play hopscotch!

A little late

These pictures were taken the day... actually hours... before Elaina was born. It took awhile to post it... but I'm sure you know... we've been sort of busy!

We took Amelia to the Oregon Zoo on Sunday, August 29. She got to see a TON of animals and enjoyed our outing immensely.

Checking out the sea otters!

Porky Pig!

Took Elaina to her two week check up yesterday. She's doing really well. She's gained a whole bunch of weight and has finally stretched out!

Here's a recap:
8/30 - 6lbs, 9oz
9/2 - 6lbs
9/4 - 6lbs, 2oz
9/7 - 6lbs, 6oz
9/14 - 7lbs, 5oz

Elaina gained nearly a pound in one week! The doctor is very happy about that and so am I. That puts her in the 50th percentile. She measures 21.21" - 90th percentile and her head circumference is 14" - 50th percentile. Our next visit isn't until November. (Amelia was 7lbs, 2oz, 19" and head circumference of 14" at her two week.)

Amelia is taking to her little sis. Last night she was giving her hugs and kisses without any prompting. Then later she pulled Elaina on her lap and was hugging her and burping her.

Elaina

So... update... we're adjusting well to our new little addition. Amelia is taking to Elaina really well. We're not making a big stink out of Elaina and it's "business as usual" around the house. This afternoon, Amelia fed Elaina a bottle. She wanted to do it all by herself. In addition, she took the burp cloth and wiped Elaina's mouth after she was done! Amelia is a great little helper.

We took Elaina in for her two day check up yesterday. After spending more than an hour there, Elaina is doing well. She lost 9 ounces and was 6 pounds. We have to go back tomorrow for a weight check. In addition, she is looking a little jaundiced, but the doctor isn't worried about it because her bilirubin tests came back on the low risk.

And that's about it!

She's here!

I am sure most of you know that we have expanded from a family of three to a family of four.

Elaina Evelyn Rake entered this world - very fast - on August 30, 2010 at 1:43 am. She weighed in at 6 pounds, 9 ounces and measured 18.5". Total time for labor and delivery - less than four hours!

We are all doing well and getting into our routine at home. Amelia is adjusting really well. We are trying to divide our time equally between the two girls. Emmy is doing well, too, as this is her second time around.

More to follow... but in the meantime, here are some pictures!
