12-12-23

What's the significance of 12-12-23? Read on to find out...

Amelia is now 12 weeks old.

Amelia is now 12 pounds! (oh my, that's a heavy carseat!)

Amelia is now 23" long.

She's growing up too fast. I'm going to blink once and she'll be in kindergarten. Blink twice and she's on her first date. Blink again and she's graduating from college. I had no idea that she'd grow so quickly and hit milestones in her development so fast. (click on image to make it bigger)

Pictures Galore!

Grandpa Rake came over for dinner last night after taking a free golf lesson with Brad. This picture was snapped after supper and Amelia was being bounced on Grandpa's leg. You can tell that she loves Grandpa bouncing her!

Here's a slideshow of Amelia being the hit of our friends' Birthday, Housewarming & Engagement party. click on view all images if it doesn't appear.

And here's a picture of Nate Dogg with Amelia. Nate used to be my cube-mate at Clear Channel Radio.

And a lot of people have asked if Emmy is getting along with Amelia...

A shampoo & a swing (pics & video)

This weekend, Grandma treated Amelia to a shampoo! Amelia had dry scalp, so Grandma oiled (baby oil), combed and shampooed Amelia's hair in the kitchen sink. She liked it... both of them! click on the image to make it bigger.

Here's a short video of Amelia enjoying her swing this afternoon!

Papa's Visit & Batting Practice (slideshow & video)

Papa came to Portland on a business trip August 11-14. But he made time to see his granddaughter Amelia! Here are some photos of his visit! (If the slideshow doesn't appear, click on "view all images")

Here's a video of Amelia at batting practice.

I'm a Big Girl! (slideshow)

Amelia is growing before my eyes. This weekend we put her in her high chair so she can be at eye level with us at mealtimes. I've included a slideshow of her first uses in the chair. It's Chicco and has I think 7 different heights and three different seat positions. It also has wheels so we can wheel her around the hardwood floors. And it folds up... taking up only 7" of width space. Enjoy the slideshow. (If it doesn't appear, then click on the box that reads "view all images")

Also, I couldn't resist taking this picture... my two girls asleep on the floor. :)

More to come!

Bathtime, Biker Girl & Rangers Cheerleader (pictures)

I can't believe that Amelia is 10 weeks old today. It's unbelievable... time flies! The neighbor across the street says she doesn't look like a newborn anymore and looks like a baby now. I guess it's time to start thinking about kid #2 - I think not! Hahahaha!

Developmentally, Amelia is doing great. She smiles first thing in the morning when I come to get her for breakfast. She's cooing a lot more. She's learning how to laugh and doing it more, but they're still spurts. She's sleeping a good 6 hours and sometimes up to 9 hours at night. We've got a bedtime routine already and that means, she goes to sleep anywhere between 8:30-9:30pm. And she's taking her naps from 10-11:30a and again from 1:30-3:30p. We're trying to wean her a little from mommy's booby. She's learning to take milk from a sippy cup specially designed for 3+months. Now it's up to us to figure out how to feed her with it, as she'll take a swig, but it's a lot and she'll spit out half of the contents in her mouth. Amelia is holding her head up more. This weekend we plan to dig out the high chair so she can join us at eye level at dinner. She's just growing so quickly!

And now for a few pictures! Don't forget to click on them to make them bigger.

This is Amelia at bathtime. MoMo (my mom) got her this robe and matching slippers. Very cute!

This is Amelia on her first motorcycle... well, her first time sitting on one. The Indian belongs to Daddy's barber. You can see in the background and through the window Grandpa Rake getting his hair cut!

And this is what Daddy picked out for Amelia to wear today. Surprise, surprise!

Going to the Dentist! (pictures)

Amelia had her first dentist visit! Actually, Mommy had to get her teeth cleaned and checked. But that didn't stop the dentist from looking at Amelia. Really, the dentist only remarked at how nice her gums looked and how cute she was. At then end of the visit, Amelia got her first tooth brush. She'll be using it in a few months! Here are some pictures of her first visit.

Notice the toothbrush matches her outfit!

On the Beach (video)

Here are a few movies I took while on the beach. See if you can tell who's having fun!

Hahaha!

Okay, it wasn't that hearty... as the subject line may suggest, but Amelia is starting to giggle! She made two little giggles on Sunday and again on Monday. It was so cute! She's also smiling a lot more. Right now Papa is visiting, so she's getting more quality time with him. I'll post pictures later!

My Terrific Team!

I just wanted to take a moment to thank and let you meet my terrific birth team.

Here I am BEFORE Amelia with my OBGYN, Dr. B, me and MA, Lorraine. The pic was taken June 2, just days before the Munchkin arrived. You can see that my belly is sitting really low!

Here's Dr. B with Amelia at the post partum check up (July 25). Dr. B says she is still kicking herself for not delivering her. I told Dr. B that next time she'll be there to deliver my next baby. She says that Amelia is beautiful and just loves her! I mean, who wouldn't say the same thing?

Here's Karen, the CNM (certified nurse midwife) who did deliver Amelia. Karen was simply awesome! If I didn't have Dr. B, then I am definitely glad I got Karen.

Also, I know some of you lurk and read the blog. Feel free to post a comment. I would love it. You don't have to log in to post. Just type in that "security jibberish/password", then click on "anonymous" and you can post a comment without having to join blogger.

A special shout out to Sara who just found out she's pg! Woo hoo! And to Monty who is still <2! Waiting for 99 days, Monty!

Bath Time! (video)

Two Month Check Up

Amelia had her two month check up on Friday, Aug. 1. She weighs in at a hefty 10lbs 4oz. She's 22" long and her head circumfrence is 15". The doctor says she is measuring perfectly... and is in the 50th percentile. Amelia also got her first round of many shots... two in one leg, one in the other and then an oral vaccine for rotovirus. The nurse who gave her the injections was super quick. By the time Amelia could respond and start crying, the second shot was already in. Our next appointment is in October for her 4 month check up.

Amelia sees the Pacific! (slideshow)

The whole family took a trip to the coast this weekend! What a fun time we all had. We left on Friday and came home Monday. It was a 6th Honeymoon for Brad and I, too. All four of us (Brad, Amelia, Emmy and yours truly) went to Newport, OR. It was nice the whole time we were there, except for Monday when it was overcast, but not windy. Amelia had a great time, except for everytime we got to the beach, she was asleep. Finally on the last day, she stayed awake... and wading in the Pacific Ocean. Friday, we walked on the beach and went to the Chowder Bowl. Saturday, we went to Lincoln City to check out the sandcastle contest (not very good builders) and then left to walk the beach in Newport. It was windy, but sunny that day. We walked from the hotel along the beach to downtown historic Newport and then back to the hotel along the roadway. We did make a pit stop at Devils Punch Bowl and Mo's for some chowder. Afterwards, we met up with Grandma & Grandpa Rake for dinner. We went back to the Chowder Bowl. Amelia was craving the garlic onion cheese bread there. ;) On Sunday we wento Aquarium Village and then had lunch along Newport Bay at Port Dock One. Afterwards, we went back to the hotel and took a nap. Then we were up for our anniversary dinner at Georgies. Yummy, crab cakes and heath bar chocolate chip ice cream sandwiches and a lemon drop (in no particular order). Brad had the sampler plate with scallops, salmon, clams and other fish along with a martini and the white chocolate cheesecake. Then on Monday, it was pack up and head home... but first we walked the beach and dipped our toes and paws one last time. Emmy even found a spotted ratfish that washed up ashore. We looked in the tide pools and we saw tons of star fish and even saw a crab hunting fish. Here are a few photos from the trip. If the slide show doesn't load, click on "view all images"
