Out of Curiosity...

This seems viral... but a couple of friends of mine wanted to know who reads this blog. I've had over 10,000 hits over the past year and then some. So if you would be so kind and do me the honors... would you please post a comment on the blog, so I know who's reading. You don't have to tell me your name, but I just wanted to know who pops on. Write your comment and then if you don't have an account, then click on the button next to "anonymous". Thanks!

Spaghetti Night

So we decided to have spaghetti for dinner tonight and wanted Amelia to enjoy the meal as well. So I cooked her some whole wheat macaroni noodles and mixed it with meat sauce. Brad stripped her down to her diaper. I put saran wrap along her high chair. Then we put her in it and let her go. This is the result:

Not much...

Not much going on in our world. Just thought I'd post a few pictures.

Daddy and Amelia, dare I say it, watching Family Guy together.

Daddy caught this picture of Amelia crawling with a straw hanging out her mouth.

Making faces.

What, who me?

A face only a mother could love.

Amelia with her bunny.

Amelia playing with the vertical blinds today.

She was watching Emmy outside.

Caught in the act!

Playing on the plane

Amelia had fun flying on Southwest. She had the bulkhead all to herself and two lovely flight attendants who loved her so much. This is her after she had a two hour nap on a four hour flight.

Let's take a dip...

Hee hee hee! Here's Amelia wading in the pool with MoMo. How's that prickly heat rash, MoMo?

Crawling

As I mentioned in a previous post, Amelia loves to crawl... watch...

And wonderful news! I went over to groom Emmy yesterday and while I was there, the workers finished shingle-ing our roof! So now there should be no rain coming into the house from a hole in the roof. The roof looks fantastic, too. It's the prettiest one on the circle. Hee hee! Yippee!

Papa came to visit us on Wednesday night. We had our usual dinner salad. Mmm... it was tasty. Amelia loved eating the chicken. Papa was quite fascinated that she ate so much.

Here's a short video of Amelia and Papa together at the dinner table.

A Minor Setback

Okay, so we've had a minor set back in terms of our house (for those yearning for an Amelia fix, scroll down). While I was away and in Florida, it rained. Brad went to the house and found puddles in the house (living, master bed and Amelia's room). The tip off point was when Brad couldn't get into the house through the front door. Turns out there was a bad leak from the front window over our door and the door had swelled nearly to the point where we could not open the front door. The front foyer hardwood floors were soaked, there's dirty water marks running down the walls. After calling the company supervisor, an emergency team got out to the house and set up dryers. So we had dryers upstairs and downstairs. Ugh! They also tore some of the sheetrock off the walls and had to retarp the roof. So that's a set back. However, we are moving forward with the house. The bathroom is all framed. The electrician came and reinstalled lights, fans and moved electrical outlets. The plumber also came and moved the toilet hole, drain for the shower and the drainage/piping for the bathtub. We're really excited. We've picked out our shower fixtures and new fixtures for the tub (they were getting old and wearing out). Then yesterday, the roofers came and put the tar paper on the roof... and today, they were shingling the roof! Hooray! I've put together a slideshow of the house fix.

In other news... my sis-in-law (Natalie) and bro (Jay) had a beautiful baby girl, Amanda Jayne on Wednesday, April 15. She weighed in at 8 1/2 pounds. Mom had to be induced. I hear that everyone is doing well!

In Amelia news, she's now a crawler. She's got a good solid 7 teeth. Everyone is remarking that she's such a happy baby. I got the comments from random people at the airport. Makes me feel good because I know that she's taken care of and others are noticing. Umm... Amelia also loves to walk. She had a great Easter. Grandma Evelyn gave her an Easter basket filled with goldfish crackers, toddler finger snacks, a Dr. Seuss crib sheet, Easter chicken that plays music, candy and a swimsuit. MoMo gave Amelia two cute 12 month outfits. Super cute! (had to fit in a suitcase). She also got an outfit from her Auntie Debbie & Uncle Ronny and toys for the bathtub from Jejja. She made out like a bandit.

We are back!

Wow! What a whirlwind trip! On Wednesday, Amelia and I flew to Ft. Lauderdale to see a cousin get married. We left at 11am and arrived, via Kansas City, in Ft. Lauderdale at 9:15pm local time. We waited around the airport for about an hour and a half until MoMo and Grandpa Vern got there and then went to our hotel. Thursday we just hung around town... visited Jejja and went sunbathing by the pool and had dinner (chinese) with cousin Kevin and Uncle Paul. On Friday, we spent more time with Jejja. In addition, we saw all the relatives at cousin Gabe's rehearsal dinner. Saturday, I spent time at the beach and got burned. It doesn't hurt, but it itches like crazy. That evening we went to Gabe and Cheree's wedding on the beach and then to the reception. We had a great time. Then on Sunday, we flew home via Chicago Midway. Amelia had a great time on the second leg of the flight... as she was sitting in the bulkhead which meant she could get up and stretch and walk around and didn't get in the way of anyone. The two female flight attendants had a great time with her. They gave her a Southwest bag tag she could chew on and one of the flight attendant made a rattle for her out of a cup, lid and some pretzels. She LOVED it! Then when we got off the plane, she couldn't wait to see daddy. In fact, I am pretty sure she was dreaming of him... as she woke up and said "Dadda" twice, looked around and then fell back asleep when she couldn't find him. Here are some picture of our trip. It's a lot of pictures, but there were more! Enjoy!

Will be back to update you on the house... oh boy!

Such a beautiful day!

The sun is out, the wind is blowing from the east... which means the weather is warm! Amelia, Emmy and I just got back from a walk. It was beautiful. We're getting used to the sun because we're going to Florida on Wednesday! Yippeee! Here are a couple of photos of Amelia in her jean shorts! I've been waiting for her to get into these jeans for the past 8 months! hee hee!

We have trusses!

Woo hoo! We're on the way to getting a new roof for Amelia! The crane came today and hoisted the seven trusses on top of the second floor. We're working on the final specs of our new bathroom and we're looking at another 6-8 weeks until we can get back into the house... I am hoping for 6, but thinking that it will be more like 8-10 weeks. Still, that means we'll be back in the house by maybe June! Cross your fingers and pray! Here is video and pictures of the trusses being put on the house.

And by popular demand, here are some new photos of Amelia. Sorry they're a bit blurry... but I was trying to get her to smile big so everyone can see her teeth. She was eating mac & cheese for lunch today.

This one was from last week when she fell asleep while Daddy and I were looking at changes to the house.

Uh oh!

Amelia's got her first cold! Her nose is drippy and she's coughing, but she's still perky as ever. It's so cute to see her smile now with all her little 7 teeth!

As for the house, the trusses get put on the roof tomorrow! Will update more later with pictures!
