It's been awhile...

It's been awhile since my last post, but getting to the computer and actually finding time to type with two hands has been hard to come by. Nothing much to report. Just plugging and chugging away. Amelia is growing so quickly. She is now into standing... almost without assistance. She only needs help so she can keep her balance, but doesn't need help with the actual standing. Daddy and I are having so much fun with her.

Here is a picture I snapped of Amelia and her cousin, Audry, over the weekend.

More to come....

Another Week... (pics)

Just a quick update on Emmy... we got the "all clear" call from the vet yesterday morning. The growth on her neck was exactly that, a growth. The name of the diagnosis was long and cumbersome. The only thing I managed to get out of it and remember were the words: dermatalogical and lymp-something. But it all boils down to some skin growth and not cancerous. The surgeon removed all of it and all is right in Emmy's world. By the way, Emmy gives a shout out to Shiloh... hope he gets better soon and can soon run again.

Work is going well. I am enjoying my schedule. It hardly feels like I am working the way it's planned out. Amelia is loving Becky's. There's so much for her to do there. Secretly, I think she has a crush on the little boy who also goes to Becky's on the same days she does. Here are a few pictures of Amelia... by the way, she's getting really heavy! She's already up to 13 pounds! Here 4mo check up is Oct. 6. Yikes!

Here's my little thug. This was taken before going to Becky's on Wednesday. I'm not sure why she was giving me that face...

Here's my little thug smiling.

Here's Amelia talking with MoMo on the phone last night. She was giving her opinion on the presidential debate that's supposed to happen tonight. She's very involved in politics. She's going to be another Alex P. Keaton - but not a republican.

Until next time....

Emmy (video)

Just wanted everyone to know that Emmy is doing great. She came through the surgery like a trooper. The gash/incision is about an inch and a half long. It's not pretty. The vet palpatated around for the microchip, but the growth wasn't near it... so we know that the microchip isn't doing anything bad to Emmy. We will get the pathology results back sometime this week and then we'll go from there. Thanks to all who kept her in your prayers.

Now here's some video of Amelia playing in her Exersaucer yesterday.

What we did this weekend... (pics)

Need I say more?

Actually, Brad put the Exersaucer together Friday night. It came in at least 100 pieces. There are a ton of toys on it, too. We bypassed the tummy time stage and went right to the saucer stage. Amelia loves to stand in it and play with all the toys. She can also bounce a little in it because it has springs in it. The next stage for this is when Amelia can stand on her own and then it becomes a little play table with all the toys. To all my pg friens and relatives... the Exersaucer is made by Evenflo if you like it.

Amelia was so pooped after playing in it, she needed a long nap.

More to come!

Making Progress! (video & pics)

So I am sitting here at the computer hoping to update my blog when Amelia started getting fussy. I started making noises... ahh-ooh sounds. Then all of a sudden she starts copying me. She started making the oooh sound! What's really cool is that I was over exaggerating my face/lips (basically puckering my lips as I was making the oooh sound) and she would copy me with her lips as she was making the sound. Then I tried getting her to makr the ahh oooh sound together... and she did! We did it several times and each time she did it I would squeal in delight and say "yea, Amelia!" she'd then give me a big ole grin. Good times!

Here's a picture or two of Amelia from today:

And here's the reason why I logged on to post. See how well she's holding up herself? Watch closely at the very end.... :)

Another week...

...gone by. This week has flown by. Amelia enjoyed her time at Becky's. But we're happy it's our weekend, although we've got lots to do. Tomorrow Amelia and I have to take or pick up Emmy from the vet. Saturday, it's a BBQ (hope the weather stays dry!).

Other than that, not too much to report on this front. Amelia is getting stronger every day. Becky has been giving her lots of tummy time, so she's holding her head up a lot. She's also getting really strong legs and really likes to stand. If she didn't list to the side, I think she'd be able to stand on her own. Amelia likes to dance in front of the mirror in our bathroom. :) Tee hee hee!

Not much else to report... so I leave you with this picture...

Red Lobster

Amelia is doing well. We survived our first week of Mommy working and on the weekends, Daddy watching her while Mommy is at work.

Just a quick update on life: Emmy goes in tomorrow to get bloodwork done for her upcoming surgery. She goes under the knife on Friday. I am sick with a cold - all those germs from work. Congrats to Jay and Natalie who are expecting their first on May 2! Woo hoo!

Here are couple of pictures from this weekend. The first is Amelia on the floor after a major diaper blowout.

These are pictures of Amelia with Cousins Francie and Wayne at Red Lobster. Apparently Amelia likes the all you can eat shrimp meal!

Does a bib come with this dress?

The week is done!

Well, the working week for me ended on a better note. Mommy is really really really happy she picked Becky to watch her most prized possession. Becky is so nice and loves Amelia lots. She's been giving her lots of tummy time and is very patient with her. I get daily reports and lots of picture messages on my phone! If you're reading this Becky, Hi and thanks a bunch!

My second most prized possession is doing fine. The eye ointment is helping Emmy a lot better. She's almost back to her old self. In addition, the vet called me back yesterday at work and said that he discovered "tumor" cells in the needle biopsy. He couldn't tell if they were cancerous or not. So on Monday I'm taking Emmy to get her bloodwork done and then on Friday she'll go in to get the growth removed. Also, if it's there, I asked the vet to take out her microchip. There have been some reports saying that the chips are causing cancerous cells. So all is good on the Emmy front for now. We're just on a holding pattern until the pathology report comes back.

In the meantime... here's a picture of Amelia taken last night after bathtime. I was talking to her like Donald Duck and she was liking it.

PS It was so nice to sleep in the morning! Woo hoo! 8:00a!

A better day... sort of...

Today was a good day for me and Amelia. Mommy was strong and didn't cry at all today. It's getting easier.

However, today was a crappy day on another note. Our neighbors took Emmy to the vet because she had a watery eye. The good news is that her eye can be cured with antibiotic drops. She's got a bacterial infection. But while the vet was looking her over, he found a lump on the back of her neck. He did a biopsy on it and it came back with some cancerous cells. So now he wants us to bring her back in to get it removed sooner rather than later. :( Please pray for my little Emmy. More to come on that...

A traumatic day...

...for Mommy.

Amelia's first day at daycare was great. Mommy's first day was filled with tears. It was so hard to let her go at 6:40 this morning. But with plenty of kisses (wet ones!), hugs and a promise to be back in a few hours, Mommy made it out the door.

Becky kept me in the loop all morning. She took a picture with her cell phone and sent it to me at about 7a. It was of Amelia sleeping. She had about a two hour nap. Next, Nathan got to hold Amelia, the 4-year-old boy Becky also watches (another picture). Then it was time for tummy and back time, followed by trying to drink from a bottle. Mommy got there at about 11:10 and was geeted by Becky and the Munchkin (she had some tears in her eyes, me too). Boy was she happy to see me. She was a hungry girl, drinking as loudly as she could... draining both boobies. Then I left to go back to work with tears again in my eyes. Becky changed Amelia and then she was down for the count until about 2p. Then she had a field trip to the school to pick up the rest of the kids. She then got fussy and took some milk from the bottle. And then went back to sleep for about 20 minutes. And then I got there! Was I glad to see her! And she was happy to see me.

So, so far so good. We'll see what happens tomorrow. No major melt downs... yet.

The alarm clock is set...

So this post will be mostly about me. Tomorrow I return to work! Can you believe that 13 weeks has passed by? Incredible. It seemed like eternity when I first went on leave. I guess it was nice that Amelia came right at the beginning of my leave, which allowed me to have more time with her. But I think I have it good. I am only away from Amelia for 3 days a week. She will have a great time with Becky. Then on the weekends, she'll be with Daddy while I am at work. I ultimately want to be at home working... but that will come in due time... until then, I am lucky to have the flexibility at my current work to let me go to part time and to make sure that my lunches don't change times, as I will be running to Becky's to feed Amelia. Will let you know how the first day of work goes. Until next time....

Nothing new to report... (pictures)

Just thought I would post a few pics I took of Amelia today.

This is Amelia having an important conversation about Global Warming. Just so you know, after she tired of that subject, she went on to talk about this year's presidential election.

And this one was taken as she was talking to MoMo on speakerphone.

Random stuff

So last night after pumping, I couldn't get back to sleep, so I lay awake in bed for two hours just thinking about things. Among those things... I don't want to go back to work! Next Tuesday I go back to my job at the call center. I really wish I didn't have to deal with people on the phone. My one savior, I am only working 32 hours a week and Amelia only has to be in daycare for three days. Plus, I get to go to the sitters on my lunch break so I can feed Miss Amelia. I hope she'll be good for Becky. :)

Another thing I was thinking about was the fact that I have a little girl. When I first found out I was pregnant, I really wanted a little boy. And, I was a little bummed when I found out at our gender ultrasound that it was a little girl. However, that was short lived. But as I lay in bed last night, I couldn't imagine what it would be like to have a little boy in the house. I am so happy to have a little girl. They're so much fun... especially when I look into her closet and it's full of cute little girly things - not frilly - but a closet full of color. I'm so happy to have a little munchkin who's healthy and very happy.

I was also reflecting on Brad and how he's such a great daddy. It's wonderful to see him interacting with Amelia more. I think at first Amelia was so small and not very reactive to the outside world... except for the booby! Now that she's getting to be a little more independent, Brad is having more fun with her. He gets her ready for bed at night, makes faces at her during dinner time, tickles her all the time and plays "horsey" on his leg. I also think he enjoys watching the baseball games with her on his lap.

I just want to say I have the bestest family and I couldn't ask for anything more. I love sharing this experience with my friends and family through this blog... the good and the bad.

Uh oh... she's up from her nap... gotta run. But first, here are some pictures.
